My Life In a galaxy far, far away...stop me if you've heard this one?! Well, maybe my life didn't start in a galaxy far away, but I was born outside the U.S. My dad was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and that's where my twin sister and I were born. My dad got out of the Navy the year after that and moved our family to Illinois so that he could attend college at SIU, Carbondale. After he graduated we moved to Ridgecrest, CA. Here Jenny, my twin sister, and I terrorized the local boys and hunted lizards in the desert. We had to give up our hedonistic ways when we moved to Illinois at the age of 12 and were expected to act like civilized beings. Plus there weren't any lizards to catch. So, after 4 verrrry long years our little family moved back to Ridgecrest. This time Jenny and I chased the boys with the intent of dating them, possibly terrorizing them still. We played soccer and rode horses and generally were pretty good teenagers. Jenny and I went off to college and there we parted ways. I stayed there to earn my BA in art, and she left to get married and have a family. I met my husband while attending CSU, Chico and we dated for two years before getting married. He left 4 months after our wedding for the Army. He was stationed at Fort Drum, NY and that's where we have been living for the past four years. During our time in NY, we expanded our family and welcomed our son, Isaac, into the world on July 11, 2000. My husband, Brian, recently separated from the Army and we have moved back to Ridgecrest so that he may attend college and get his degree. Interests There are many things I enjoy in this life, besides spending time with my family. I love reading books, particularly Fantasy and Science Fiction. I have, however, been known to read regular old fiction. I try to enjoy camping with my husband, who's much more an outdoor enthusiast than myself. I like to stay in a hotel and do day trips from there, he likes to get back to nature. Our last trip out to the wilderness found us splitting the difference, camping first then spending a night in a hotel. Ahhh, marital bliss! I also love to paint and to draw. Recently, I have been leaning more toward soft pastels, and am trying to improve my techniques. And last but not least on a long list that has to be abbreviated for space, I enjoy watching movies with any kind of obvious 3D work or special effects. |
